Bavo will show us how cryptography can help in being more compliant in the way we process personal data.

In the introduction he will explain symmetrical keys, asymmetrical keys, hash-function basics and how they are used in digital signatures and (file) encryption.

In the rest of the presentation he will show 6 eye-opening examples.

For every example he will explain the risks, explain how they can be shown to non-believers, and propose (cryptographic) solutions that will reduce the risks.

In every case he will explain the regulatory challenges: based on the current Directive 95/46 EC and looking into the future of the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation.
